Spearpoints are- A type of bore used in shallow generally unconfined aquifers.

Shallow installations usually reaching no more than 6 metres in depth, these installations are usually for delivering low quantities of water. They amount odf water usually obtained is only for watering a garden, Holiday or a small house.

They are formed by different methods some of these are

1: Drilling a hole by machine or hand and installing casing and screen, in this method the ground conditions must support the hole opening or it will collapse.

2: By hammering your casing and screen directly into the ground using a amchine or a sledge hammer. If using PVC then a drive cap must be fitted to the top and this cap is used to take the hammer blows so as not to split the casing r screen.

3: Jetting, this can be done by using an Air compressor or a high pressure water supply.

A jet of water is pushed through an orrifice in the pointed spear and as the water is coming through the spear point the borecasing is pushed down as the water pushes the sand in front of the screen away, this goes on until the screen is at it's desired depth.

Spear point or Pointed bottom cap are made.

In the right ground conditions you can push your screen abnd casing straight into the ground thus saving a lot of expense by not having to predrill the hole in the ground.

These are made from solid PVC so there is no chance of them splitting into pieces as they are driven into the ground. these can also be made from other materials such as - HDPE, Steel Stainless Steel and any other material that you may need.

They are pushed into the pipe until the pipe hits the shoulder of the point and then they can be secured by gluing or fastening them with a rivot or stainless screw.

When using threaded screens and casing a short piece of the casing is attached to the spear point and will have a female thread so this can then screw staright onto your screen, this is a very quick method with not using any glues.

Our Monument well covers are manufactured from structural steel and are coated in Galvanized or painted finish.

They are used to provide protection to the bore monitoring well so that contaminants form an outside source does not enter the well. They are concreted in the ground so as not to be removed easily and the lid is hinged to the body with a solid welded or riveted. A lug is provided on the front so a security padlock can be used to allow access only to those who are authorized.

These flush well covers are used specially in a walk way or traffic area, they can be mounted so they are flush to the ground surface. Cars, pedestrians and traffic can go over these with no effect on the integrity of the structure to the cover. They are made from cast-iron and coated with a paint to minimize corrosion.

The lid opens with a quarter of a twist and has Do Not fill cast into the lid, this is recommended by some international standards.

The are made in a long and short skirt version, if you are not putting a short piece of Pvc at the top of the bore then usually the long skirted cover is used and concreted into the ground.

These can be made in the material that meets your requirements. The Non return valve is to allow the water to go through the orifice to washdown the screen, but not to allow any objects to come back into the screen that could then be sucked into the pump.

In the picture to the left is a sand spear with a permanet wash down valve, therefore it does not need a non return valve. This is used for shallow applications only and often in temporary applications
